Grading Policy

  • In Bedford County, students are given three types of grades: homework, formative and summative. Homework is worth 10% of a student's overall grade. Formative assignments are worth 30% of a student's overall grade. Summative assignments (tests, quizzes, projects, etc.) are worth 60% of a student's overall grade.

  • Papers in the Wednesday Folder can be corrected for some additional points. Any D or F paper should be corrected and returned within a week.

  • Reading grades include a comprehension and a point goal grade. Students work toward an assigned goal through the quarter, and their percentage of the goal is a summative grade. In addition, their overall comprehension on AR tests they take counts as a summative grade.

  • Nine-week grades in grades 3-5 will be assigned as follows.  Quarter grades within a half-point will be rounded up to the nearest whole number when averaged.
