Meet Your School Counselor

Greetings!

My name is Leah Horton and I am thrilled to be working with the families and the community of Boonsboro Elementary School! My passion is working with families, and specifically children, to educate and empower them. I believe that teaching children necessary life skills, social skills, coping skills, and character education at a young age will make a lasting impact on their future, possibly changing the course of their lives.

I have several years of experience working with children, from preschool through high-school age, in various settings. I consider myself to be a multi-cultural and well rounded counselor by having worked with families from many different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. I am a Lynchburg native and am well connected in this area. I graduated from Liberty University with my Bachelor's degree in Child & Adolescent Psychology then later went on to receive my Master's degree from Lynchburg College in Counselor Education.

As a trained specialist in school counseling, I am fully licensed by the state of Virginia. I have been a counselor for five years and have worked for Bedford County Schools since 2015. I previously worked at Staunton River High School for two years before transferring to Boonsboro Elementary. As a counselor I work collaboratively with parents, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to meet students' needs. If you would like for me to see your child, or if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone or email. I look forward to working with all of you and getting to know you as the year progresses!
